For most people who start a business, the dream is for it to stay in the family and be successful for generations to come and that’s exactly what the Ford family has accomplished. In 1957, Ford Construction Company acquired Choctaw Transportation adding this marine entity to its portfolio of successful businesses.
Dedication
"The feeling of strong support and loyalty to our customers."
Choctaw Transportation Company is now in its third and fourth generation of a leadership operating as a large diverse heavy marine construction, marine fleeting services, trucking, agricultural/aggregate product sales, and a four-platform terminal operation that continues in the strategic direction set forth by leaders for steady and significant growth and diversification that benefits the ever-evolving maritime industry.
Service
“Possessing special knowledge and skill of an intellectual or mental nature to help those in need.”
We have a long history of partnering with public entities like the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Tennessee Valley Authority, and private owners completing heavy marine construction such as: cofferdams, levees, coastal restoration, and barge-related material placement. Choctaw Transportation Company combines years of expertise and experienced professionals/industry experts which are now paired with young, talented professionals and skilled tradesmen with various backgrounds and education levels who have the opportunity to train and learn from the best and grow their careers in a thriving company.
As a leader in the maritime industry from our port operations located on mile 832 on the Mississippi River, our aggregate/agricultural product yard in Heloise Tennessee, our HQ near downtown Dyersburg Tennessee, and throughout our many active projects on the Cumberland, Ohio, Lower Mississippi rivers our success stems from those that make this company their own legacy. Being a multi-generation, family-led, company is vital to our company’s past, present, and future, but the true success is because multiple families of brothers, fathers, sisters, mothers, cousins, nephews, uncles, and aunts have made their own family and career legacy right here at Choctaw Transportation.
Legacy
“The impact our company and team left on the industry and communities we have served.”
Success and Succession take vision and at Choctaw Transportation, it takes our entire team to build upon the foundation and vision of our company, set goals together, and implement execution to continue to support the maritime industry as it is the backbone of global trade and economy for the generations to come.
