Choctaw Transportation is a marine construction and transportation company with over 60 years of experience. Purposefully located on the Mississippi River for convenience and sustainability, the company has two locations and offers a range of aggregate services.
Challenge – Protecting aggregate product from the outdoor elements
Solution – Hercules Truss Arch Buildings
Size – 85′ wide x 160′ long
Application – Aggregate limestone storage
Jamey Sanders, Vice President of Choctaw Transportation, discussed how an economical building solution was necessary for the company to remain productive. He said, “We were in a big need of a dry storage building because of the amount of lime we move every year and dealing with our weather conditions.” Rather than allowing the elements to eat away at profits, they found a resourceful building solution through ClearSpan.
Choctaw Transportation purchased an 85′ wide by 160′ long Hercules Truss Arch Building to store and preserve over 10,000 tons of aggregate limestone. By gaining more than 13,000 square feet of storage space, there is now more than enough room to protect their product before it’s sold. The expansive interior provides maximum usable space for aggregate piles, machinery, and workers to simultaneously access the building.
The decision to utilize a fabric structure from ClearSpan was a strategic one. Those at Choctaw Transportation took their time finding the right structure for the company’s needs. Sanders said, “We did our research. We talked to a lot of different companies, and we were very impressed with the ClearSpan product.”
The research and preparation ultimately paid off. Sanders is confident that ClearSpan was the right choice for Choctaw Transportation’s building needs. When discussing his experience, Sanders said, “It was a very clean and painless process. We love the product.” He continued with his appreciation for ClearSpan, stating, “They were very professional in every way. We talked through our needs and spent a lot of time with each other. They stood by everything they said they would do in the quote.”
